I loved the atmosphere ! All the players were smiling and laughing unlike modern sports. Today the players are grimacing and look like they are in a war instead of involved in the mutual joy of effort.

Wonderful. The men's style of dress reminded me of pictures of my father taken in the same time-period.
In the "About the Film" description, the items they're throwing are called "rocks" and aren't made of iron. They're made from granite and weigh about 40lbs (20kg). The finest rocks in the world are made from granite once harvested not far from where this was filmed - the island of Ailsa Craig.

Magnificent footage from the same decade in which I was born into life in Castle Douglas. So many people on the Loch, and seemingly without fear. I have walked on this frozen Loch many a time but sadly never shared the enjoyment of curling.
