Sheree Borge

This film certainly creates the sense of claustrophia that West Berliners must have felt at the time. The children had to make use of whatever spaces were available to play in.
I wonder how many West Berliners spent their entire childhoods between 1961 and 1989 without travelling outside the confines of the city boundaries, having to make do with pictures of things like the sea, cows, sheep and open fields. A depressing thought.

Why this blog?

  • Welcome to Europa Film Treasures' official blog. For the first time, a web site offers free access to a scheduling of heritage films from the most prestigious European archives and film libraries. Each ticket corresponds to a film. You can respond to the films and web surfers' contributions by posting your comments. Like the web site, the blog exists in five languages. Don't hesitate to take part in the blogs of the other versions.
